More about the tour

• Our tour starts at 8:00 - 9:00. We'll pick you up at your hotel's security gate and go on a sightseeing tour in Antalya. This city has a rich history and unique attractions, and is a big resort in southern Turkey.
• We'll visit the famous Duden waterfall first. There are two parts, Upper and Lower Duden, 15 km apart. You'll see Lower Duden first. It's 45 meters high and is the tallest freshwater waterfall that flows into the sea.
• Next, we'll go to the National Park and see Upper Duden. It's 27 meters high and looks like silver threads falling from a cliff. You can enjoy the view from a platform or from hidden caves.
• After taking some photos, you'll visit a souvenir shop to buy something for yourself or gifts for friends and family.
• We'll continue to the oldest part of Antalya, called Kaleici. It has a great history and many historical sites. You'll see the Adrian's Gate, Saat Kulesi clock tower, H?d?rl?k tower, Mehmet Pasha mosque, Karatay madrasa, Yivli minaret, and Marina old port.
• You'll have lunch at a local restaurant (included in the tour price) to rest from the walk.
• After lunch, you'll go to Marina port and get on a yacht for a one-hour sea trip along Antalya's coast.
• Finally, you'll go up Tunektepe mountain using a cable car. The viewpoint is 605 meters high, and you'll see amazing views of Antalya's coast. The cable car ride takes 10 minutes and is included in the tour price.
• You'll go down the mountain using the cable car too.
• After exploring the old city and its attractions, we'll take you back to your hotel around 17:30 - 18:30

Old Town Kaleici in Antalya

• Antalya is a big resort city in the south of Turkey. Every year, millions of tourists from all over the world visit it. It is a bright and modern place with many luxury hotels, shops, cafes, and restaurants. Most importantly, you can have a great vacation on the clean beaches by the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
• There are many different and interesting sights in Antalya, but it's best to start with the old part of the city called Kaleici, which means "inside the fortress." This area has an old atmosphere and remembers its great history from many centuries ago.
• High walls once protected the port from enemy attacks for two thousand years, keeping the town almost unchanged. Sadly, only parts of the walls remain today. The main ancient monument is Hadrian's Gate, a marble triumphal arch with columns built for a Roman emperor. It separates the old quarter from the modern world. When you walk through it, you enter a different Turkey with narrow streets, cobblestone roads, cozy houses, and cultural heritage buildings like Kesik Minaret, Murat Pasha Mosque (built in the 16th century), and the house of Kemal Ataturk.
• H?d?rl?k Tower is another reminder of the past, left from the gladiators. Historians have different opinions about the purpose of this 14-meter high brick building. Some say it was a lighthouse, others think it had a defensive function, and some even believe it stored water. Whatever the case, H?d?rl?k Tower is on a hill with a beautiful panoramic view of Kaleici port and the Antalya coastline.

Lower Duden

• During a sightseeing tour of Antalya, visitors always see the city's gem – the Duden Waterfalls. Even though they have a common name and are formed by one river, these are two completely different waterfalls, separated by a distance of 15 kilometers.
• Lower Duden, 45 meters high, is located in Lara district's park of the same name, and entrance to the park is free. This is the world's tallest freshwater waterfall that falls into the open sea. You can enjoy the view from a lookout or from the sea. Tourists say that the most beautiful view is from passing boats and ships when the powerful streams create a huge cloud of water spray as they fall with a loud noise. During the day, there's always a rainbow, and at night, colorful lights decorate the cascade.
• Another name for Lower Duden is Karpuzkald?ran, which means "jumping watermelon" in Turkish. One story says that a river flooded and washed away a nearby watermelon field. Another version says that locals sent striped melons down the river, but didn't always catch them.
• Whatever the story, you must see this natural wonder with your own eyes. Afterward, walk along the shady park paths, relax in a cozy cafe, listen to the sound of falling water, and enjoy a fragrant coffee.

Upper Duden Waterfall

• 10 kilometers from Antalya's center, in the beautiful and well-kept Shelale Park in the Varsak area, is the first waterfall formed by the Duden River – the Upper Duden Waterfall. It is 27 meters high and over 600 years old. The water source itself is amazing, coming from the Taurus Mountains' karst springs. Before a hydroelectric power plant was built in 1962, the river flowed underground and then surfaced. Now, an artificial channel forms a single stream.
• At the source, the river is calm and slow, but after about 100 meters, it gains strength, rapids appear, and finally, it roars down the cliff. The scene is mesmerizing: silver water streams falling into an emerald lake, contrasting with the green vines, coniferous and deciduous trees in the park. There is also a 700-year-old plane tree, and tombs and sarcophagi from the 2nd and 3rd centuries are carved into the rocks.
• The main secret of this attraction is that you can admire it from both the observation deck and the hidden caves and grottos behind the waterfall. Standing inside, you can feel the full power and strength of this natural wonder. But be careful, as there are formations similar to stalagmites on the cave floor. Locals have a belief that if you tie a thread around these "needles" and make a wish while looking at the sky through the stone ceiling's opening, your wish will come true.

Tunektepe Mountain

• Tunektepe Mountain is just 15 kilometers from the center of Antalya. It is a small hill, covered with pine forests and 605 meters above sea level. It is known as the best viewpoint to see the city, the blue sea, the horizon, and the Taurus Mountain Range, which is covered by a light haze. It is best to visit on a clear, cloudless day to enjoy the nature and sights.
• Not long ago, you could reach the top on foot or by car. Since 2017, there has been a cable car that is 1706 meters long. The project was planned and approved in 1986 but construction only started in 2013. It opened four years later. The cable car cabins have panoramic, tinted windows and fit 6-8 people. The ride takes only 10 minutes.
• At the top, the air is fresh and filled with the smell of pine trees. It is cooler and there is a light breeze, so bring a light jacket or sweater when you visit. For fun, you can use a telescope for 1 lira, visit a café or a rotating restaurant that turns 360° around its axis. The restaurant is unique and popular; it takes one hour to make a full turn. You can enjoy ice cream, have a cup of coffee, and relax in a casual atmosphere.

Antalya Clock Tower in the old city

• The Clock Tower in Antalya, called Saat Kulesi, is a famous historical landmark and symbol of the city. It is often shown on guidebooks, stamps, and postcards. The tower is located in Kalekap?s? Square, close to the entrance of the old Kaleiçi district. It is a popular meeting place for both locals and tourists.
• The history of the Clock Tower dates back to the 19th century. It was built in 1901 after German Emperor Wilhelm II gave a gift of clocks to the Turkish Sultan Abdul Hamid. You can find similar clock towers in other cities in Turkey, like Kemer.
• The exact purpose of the tower is still unknown. Some historians believe it was built specifically for the clock, while others think it was part of the city's fortifications.
• The building has mostly remained unchanged. It is a two-story structure, 14 meters tall. The bottom part is shaped like a pentagon, made of rough stone. The top part is different - it is rectangular, smooth, and made of processed stone. There used to be an iron dome on the roof, but it was destroyed by a strong storm. Instead, there is now a simple brick structure with teeth. The clock has also changed. Until 1974, it was decorated with figures of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. However, the minute and second hands still show the exact time.

Yivli Minaret

• You can see the Yivli Minaret from anywhere in the city. It is an old Muslim building and a symbol of victory in a Mediterranean war. The tower is more than 800 years old, and it still looks like it did when it was built by Sultan Kayqubad I. It is 38 meters tall, with 8 columns in the middle, a pointy dome on top, and a spiral staircase inside with 90 steps. Some blue bricks have fallen off, showing the stone underneath, but this makes it look charming and old.
• At first, the Yivli Minaret was attached to a Byzantine church, which was later changed into a mosque and did not survive until today. A new building was made in 1372 by architect Balaban Tavashi using old pieces. When tourists visit Antalya, they can see the oldest mosque by following simple rules. They should dress modestly, cover women's heads with scarves, and take off their shoes before entering.
• Do not go inside during prayer time. Move slowly and talk quietly inside the mosque. Taking pictures is allowed, but not of Muslim women, and men should ask for permission. Turn off your phone or you might be fined.
• Near the Yivli Minaret, you can also visit the tombs of Nigar Hatun and Zindjirkyran and the Mevlevi House, which is a museum of the dervish order. The museum has old writings, everyday items, music instruments, weaving machines, and tapestries.
